Wyclef For President, In What Life?????

   As the situation in Haiti continues to look grim, the Haitian people seem to be finding solace in Wyclef Jeans’ recent decision to run for president of Haiti. The ‘Hip Hop sensation’ most known for his musical talent and artistry, continues to make headlines even with the suspicion centered around him and his charity Yele Haiti.  

   As it nears almost a year since the earthquakes in Haiti, Clef’s celebrity has brought hope to an otherwise mourning country. A country that is so poverty stricken, living literally means survival of the fittest. Haiti is still in despearate need of an intervention.

   They are wearing his shirts and believing in the promises he’s making. But, no one is absolutely sure that Clef has what it takes to lead a people. As far as the haitian people are concerned, Clef has money. He will pay them inexchange for their work, and he’ll return again to save them like the Messiah.

   Kimora Lee Simmons, the 35 year-old supermodel and mogul, is said to be leaving Baby Phat and Phat Farm Fashions. Simmons, who has branded and anchored Baby Phat fashions for the last 14 years, is looking to pursue other endeavors, as she readies to close one chapter and draft another.
Simmons is quoted in a recent press release as saying:
“After 14 years of conceiving and nurturing Baby Phat, it’s time for me to move on and further expand my other businesses and create a new phenomenon,” Simmons says. “I adore all those who have faithfully been with me since the beginning.”

   Everyone around me is trying to convince me that the power I thought I had is no longer my strength. These days the saying, “Clothes legs don’t get fed,” is not just a line from the movie Players Club. But a reality that is starting to make more sense as I watch the girls around me and hear the sagas of easy sex leading to pay offs. “Power of the Pu**y is no more,” I was told. “Cuz what you ain’t giving up 3 other girls will.”
   No different from the girl next dorm, I dream of a fabulous wedding, NFL players, and the craziest sex any woman has yet to experience. And admittedly I would probably jump at a get rich quick scheme if one was thrown my way. But the difference between me and most is that, I was raised with better intentions in mind and have chosen to remember my worth. To support myself, to stand on my own and to satisfy only the man that deserves me and I him are only a few lessons instilled in me from adolescences.
   Making mistakes along the way have only taught me what not to do. But they have not deterred me from seeking more out of life. And while these legs remain SLAMMED shut, my mind, heart, ears and eyes are wide open. Speak knowledge to me and spare me the BULLSHIT!!! Hos come in abundance. Dimes come 1 a dozen.    When these joints first came out, I remember thinking, “Damn I gotta have them. Plastic shoes that don’t need socks and yet are sneakers, Oh yeahhh,,, they’re definitely on my shopping list.” And seconds later, on an impulse, they were mine. Melissa, the fun, flirty and, yet, stylish plastic shoe, apparently has never gone out -of- style.     We all want to do fun things. Chow down at nice eateries. And even get our nails and hair done, all on a budget. And, if that’s the case, yall look no further. I randomly started receiving emails from two sites, LIVING SOCIAL and GROUPON about a month ago and since then, I’ve been hooked.
   If you haven’t heard, let me explain. LIVING SOCIAL and GROUPON are websites that feature some ridiculously cheap deals on the best things to do, see, and eat in your city. You sign up to receive coupons in your email and you purchase only what you want. The deals are usually marked between 50%- 75% off. It’s like purchasing a gift certificate for half the amount the certificate is worth.

    The fantasy of moving in with your significant other and waking up to “Mr. Right” on a daily may seem enticing to most. And at first glance, it’s a great way for you to show him/her that you’re committed. Lord knows, in these hard economic times (we blame everything on the economy these days) we’re all looking for any means necessary to save some change. And if you’re thinking shacking up to save money on rent, food and utilities is the answer to your prayers, guess what? You need to guess again!!!

   Let’s weigh some of the pros and cons to this situation. Pro: guaranteed “buddy loving” on demand. Con: Boredom when that routine gets stale and you’re tired of faking satisfaction. Pro: in-house personal chef. Con: you still haven’t learned how to cook yet. Pro: You’ll learn how to compromise and get good practice at being a housewife. Con: he ain’t planning on marrying yo a**. Hell, some of yall have been dating your significant others for weeks, months, even years and still can’t get promoted from “baby mama” or “home girl”.

Long gone are the days of traditional courtship, where young men and women lived with their parents until saying the big “I Do.” Today, we think of shacking up as a necessary step in the process of dating that will hopefully lead us to marriage. But honey, you need to stop kidding yourself!!!!

Live Fish Pedicure

   Ladies and gents, there’s a pedicure out and it is far from average. We all love treating ourselves to a good foot scrubbing, toe cleaning, and a fresh coat of polish, but let me tell you… this pedicure involves LIVE FISH. Yeah… you read right, I SAID LIVE FISH.
   Imagine going to your local nail salon and dunking your feet into a bath filled with small, dark fish. The little, toothless, flesh-eating fish nibble away at dead skin leaving behind a healthy layer of epidermis. The live fish pedicure is definitely an alternative to the unsanitary razors and pumice stones currently used by most salons.
   The fish spend about 15 minutes eating away the surface layer of skin that’s typically hard, dry and cracked. Once the fish are removed, clients are given a standard pedicure. Mmm… Not too sure how I feel about this one, but I am up for trying something new.

WANTED: Fast Swimmers to get me preggers

Okay… calm down!!!! I don’t actually mean me but, someone out there. And those of you who fit this category, you know who you are.

   So, recently I had an interesting conversation that really got me thinking. And the only way to clear my mind, is to get it off my chest and seek feedback. I’ve always been kinda worried about not finding the right mate. I don’t know if I’m alone on this but, I can’t accept mediocre anymore. I need some stability, some maturity and some ambition. I kinda feel like there is no hope. All the good men are either taken, old as dirt or haven’t been born yet. The 80’s baby (referring particularly to men born during this decade) is proving to be worth nothing more than the $20 that we had to spend on gas money to meet his…(you fill in the blank) at some undisclosed location, a.k.a his home girl’s house.
   By the way this home girl situation is a lil fishy to me but, that’s a different topic for a different day.
I’m worried yall. They don’t have respect for us or our parents. They talk to us however they feel like it, make us last on their ‘to do’ lists and act like we don’t matter in the scheme of things except when we callin’em Daddy and saying YES!!!

   So, I don’t know if yall have been keeping up with the latest viral video on the net. But right now, “Hide yo kids. Hide yo wife,” is all I can say. If you don’t know what I’m talking about click the link and watch for yourself.
   WTH! What is going on in the world right now?? Negroes are scaling walls like Spiderman to get what could easily be bought. White people are laughing at us and turning our tragedy into jokes. Funny jokes, but nonetheless jokes.
   Now, what gets me is the fact that the entire news cast has been turned into a song and a damn good song might I add. Dude… this was freakin’ genius and insulting at the same time. I just wanna know the thought process behind the video. But, on a side note, this just proves my point bout the music industry. Singers aren’t born, they’re created in studios.
   Antoine has over 50,000 Facebook fans (me being one of them) and his performance actually made me forget that his sister was almost raped.
Should Antoine Dodson be proud of his new found stardom? I think so!!!!!!!!!

    Some are born with them, while others try to achieve the look by any means possible. Ladies (and gents who want to achieve the fierce look too), I am here to tell look no further! For those of you who are scared of trying the false lashes in fear of looking like Mrs. Snuffleupagus, I have found a product that will allow you to achieve the same voluptuous, long lashes without the hassle and for a fraction of the cost too.

       In a poor economy where jobs are hard to come by, black women are finding themselves in a whirlwind of financial hardship. Our devotion to the church, friends and family has us lending out money where sometimes we don’t have it to give. And while this devotion and eagerness to help out those in need is praiseworthy, this attitude of lending money and shopping compulsively is leaving black women behind in the race to financial freedom in the areas of stability, security and long-term savings.
      We haven’t quite given up our old spending habits to better accommodate the weakened state of our economy. In essence, we’re still buying what we want, when we want it and sometimes feeling guilty about it later, according to Rhonda Mims, president of the ING Foundation and senior vice president of ING's Office of Corporate Citizenship & Responsibility.
       In an article titled, “Where Do Most Black Women Spend Their Money?” it is argued that this risky behavior is a direct result of making purchases on credit. If we can’t physically see the money coming from our purses, we don’t really comprehend how much we’re spending.
      
Going natural seems to be sweeping the nation. We all know an auntie, cousin, or sister who has taken the oath to reconnect with her roots and embrace blackness. At first, I couldn’t understand why. Yall know that, that in between stage ain’t pretty and going natural brings on a whole new set of challenges like not feeling as cute, needing more variety in hairstyles and finding somebody who can handle that hair without complaining their fingers are getting cut and/or blistering. (Or maybe that’s just my hair) But it makes sense to me now.

She uses bright color to attract the eye and soft lines too accentuate the girlie side of every woman. This lady (Diane Von Furstenberg) really has fashion all figured out. My favorites DVF pieces are usually dresses with deep V necklines, asymmetrical cuts or prints so crazy I have to wonder if they occurred by accident. Love DVF Ladies!!!!!

We’ve all been lovin’ the floral print this summer. And really how could you not? Its sooo frickin girlie. But news flash, LEOPARD PRINT is where it’s at.
